How to install GC Protect
in Chrome manually

Takes under 2 minutes. Works exactly the same as the Chrome Web Store version.

Download GC Protect V3

Click the button below to download. Save it somewhere easy to find — your Desktop works great.

Unzip the downloaded file

Find GCProtect-v2.zip and unzip it.

🍎 MAC
Double-click the .zip file. A folder called gc-protect-extension appears.
🪟 WINDOWS
Right-click → "Extract All" → Extract. A folder appears.
⚠️ Keep this folder on your computer permanently — if you delete or move it, the extension stops working.

Open Chrome Extensions page

In Chrome, click the address bar, type this exactly, and press Enter:

chrome://extensions

The Extensions page opens. You'll see your installed extensions listed here.

Turn on Developer Mode

Look at the top right corner of the Extensions page. Toggle "Developer mode" to ON. It turns blue.

💡 Developer mode is built into Chrome for exactly this — installing private extensions safely. It does not compromise your security.

Click "Load unpacked"

Three buttons now appear at the top left. Click "Load unpacked".

A file picker opens. Navigate to and select the gc-protect-extension folder you unzipped.

Mac: Click "Open"
Windows: Click "Select Folder"

You're protected!

The GC Protect 🛡 icon appears in your Chrome toolbar. Don't see it? Click the puzzle piece 🧩 in Chrome's toolbar and pin GC Protect.

3. Paste this into the message box:

COMMON QUESTIONS
Is this safe to install manually?
Yes. Chrome's Developer mode is built for exactly this. GC Protect runs entirely on your device — nothing is sent to external servers.
Why isn't it on the Chrome Web Store yet?
We submitted GC Protect for Google's review process, which typically takes 3–7 days. We'll email you when it's live.
Will I need to reinstall when the store version launches?
No, the manual version works identically. When the store version launches you can switch over, but there's no rush.
What if I move or delete the folder?
Chrome loads the extension directly from that folder. If you move or delete it, the extension will stop working. Keep it where it is.
Does it work on Microsoft Edge?
Yes — go to edge://extensions and follow the exact same steps. Firefox support is coming soon.
GC Protect isn't intercepting my prompts.
Try: 1) Go to chrome://extensions and click the refresh icon on GC Protect. 2) Open a brand new chat tab. 3) Make sure you're logged into the AI platform. Still not working? Email intel@gratiacore.com.
